Because Mercury orbits the Sun within Earth's orbit (as does Venus), it can appear in Earth's sky in the morning or the evening, but not in the middle of the night.Although Mercury can appear as a bright object when viewed from Earth, its proximity to the Sun makes it more difficult to see than Venus. Two spacecraft have visited Mercury : Mariner 10 flew by in the 1970's and as the MESSENGER that was launched in 2004, orbited Mercury over 4000 times in four years before exhausting its fuel and crashing into the planet's surface on April 30, 2015.

Mercury is the closest to the sun yet not the hottest of the nine planets because it has no atmosphere to retain heat, its day side scorched by the sun and can reach 801 degrees Fahrenheit or 427 Celsius but at night, its temperature can drop to -279 degrees Fahrenheit or -173 Celsius. Mercury is named after The Messenger of the Roman Gods and was discovered in 265 BC by Timocharis. Mercury is almost the same as the moon because it has been inactive for billions of years.
Mercury is a very funny planet as a day in Mercury is 2 year on it so that means a year in Mercury is only half a day on it. What a surprise right!
Surrounding Mercury's core (Contains more iron than any other planet in the solar system) is a 500 to 700 km mantle consisting of silicates. Based on the data from the Mariner 10 mission and Earth-based observation, Mercury 's crust is believed to be 100-300 km thick. One distinctive feature of Mercury's surface is the presence of numerous narrow ridges, extending up to several hundred kilometers in length. It is believed that these were formed as Mercury's core and mantle cooled and contracted at a time when the crust had already solidified. There are a few gases and elements on Mercury like oxygen, sodium, hydrogen, helium, potassium, argon, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, water vapour, xenon, krypton and neon.
That is the only time we have for today folks, tune in next week for the explanation for Venus. Thank You and here is a quote and video for you before you go!
